Park Na Rae is embroiled in an escalating legal dispute with her former managers, while questions mount over the administrative handling of her one person agency.
According to a January 31 report by Star News, former managers identified as A and B are still officially registered as in house directors of Park Na Rae’s agency, despite being in severe conflict with the star and no longer working at the company.
The situation has drawn criticism, as individuals engaged in active legal disputes with the company remain listed as corporate executives on official registration documents. Observers say this raises concerns about the company’s internal management and administrative procedures. A and B were appointed as in house directors on September 26 last year and were listed on the corporate registry on October 13. On the same day, Park Na Rae’s mother was also registered as CEO.
However, A and B left the company in November, claiming workplace harassment and abuse of power, and have since been involved in both civil and criminal legal battles with Park Na Rae. In principle, in house directors are classified as executives rather than employees and can express their intention to resign. However, changes to corporate registration must be processed by the company. As a result, even if A and B intended to step down, they remain legally listed as “current directors” unless the company files the necessary changes. Registry documents still show both as in house directors.
It is unclear whether A and B formally submitted resignation letters. Still, trust between the two sides appears to have completely broken down. Industry insiders note that the agency could formally dismiss the former managers through procedural steps and apply for registration changes. A recently told Star News, “I already left the company, so I don’t understand why I’m still listed as a director. Because it’s a corporation, the removal from registration has to be done by Park Na Rae’s side. There’s nothing we can do. Being listed as a director brings no benefit, and we don’t hold any shares.”
Some view the situation as an example of insufficient administrative and legal management within a one person agency structure. Director registration is considered a basic corporate procedure, yet it has not been resolved even as the conflict intensifies. In addition, the agency has reportedly not fulfilled its obligation to register as a popular culture and arts planning business, despite the grace period designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism having passed.
Park Na Rae’s side stated, “We are not in a situation where we can handle administrative matters right now. Regarding company issues, it is difficult to make any plans or decisions at this stage.” Since late last year, Park Na Rae and her former managers have exchanged accusations involving abuse of power and embezzlement, among other allegations. A and B claim they suffered workplace harassment, special injury, proxy medical prescriptions, and unpaid business expenses during their employment, and have filed a damages lawsuit worth approximately 100 million KRW (about 75,000 USD) against Park Na Rae.
In response, Park Na Rae countersued, alleging the former managers attempted extortion based on false claims and committed occupational embezzlement. She has also faced controversy over alleged illegal medical practices involving a so-called “injection aunt.”
Park Na Rae has completed two rounds of questioning as a complainant at Yongsan Police Station. A, after being questioned as a suspect, reportedly departed for Las Vegas in the United States, citing health reasons and stating plans to return next month.
The comedian has also recently faced renewed criticism after it was revealed she is attending a traditional rice wine brewing academy. Given that past allegations of mistreatment toward former managers were linked to drinking gatherings at her home, some have questioned whether learning to make alcohol is appropriate during a period of public reflection.
