Lim Jae Beom has been honored by the government as he marks the end of his illustrious 40-year career. On January 17, 2026, during his '2025-26 Lim Jae Beom 40th Anniversary Concert: I am Lim Jae Beom' held at the KSPO Dome in Seoul, the artist was awarded a 'Merit Plaque' by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST).
Minister Choi Hwi Young, who attended the event, praised Lim Jae Beom for his peerless artistic spirit and resonant voice, thanking him for the comfort his music has provided to the public. Addressing approximately 9,000 fans, Lim Jae Beom spoke about his retirement, which he first announced on January 4, 2026. He expressed his apologies for stepping down but asked fans to let him go peacefully, cherishing the memories they have shared over the decades.
He also candidly discussed his health, admitting that his throat condition was not ideal. He revealed that he had taken all available medication to perform and promised to give his absolute best for the final stage. Lim Jae Beom debuted in 1986 as the vocalist for the band Sinawe and became an iconic figure known for hits such as 'Ascension', 'For You', and 'After This Night'. After releasing his final song 'Greeting' last September, his historic journey concludes today, January 18, 2026, at the KSPO Dome.
