During the 74th episode of the online talk show 'Jo Dong Ari', Lim Hyung Joon shared the harrowing details of the day Kim Soo Yong collapsed due to an acute myocardial infarction. According to Lim Hyung Joon, the incident began when Kim Soo Yong complained of chest tightness on a filming set. Although Kim Soo Yong initially dismissed the symptoms as simple esophagitis, he suddenly collapsed while speaking with fellow comedian Kim Sook.
Lim Hyung Joon noted that while the collapse initially looked like a joke, he quickly realized the severity of the situation when he saw Kim Soo Yong's distorted facial expression. Acting on instinct, Lim Hyung Joon immediately began performing CPR. He also attempted to administer emergency medication he carried in a pendant. With the help of Kim Sook, who managed to open Kim Soo Yong's mouth, they successfully placed the medication under his tongue before the 119 paramedics arrived.
The situation became even more dire inside the ambulance. Lim Hyung Joon recalled a terrifying moment when Kim Soo Yong stopped moving entirely, followed by a sudden gasp for air. Paramedics identified this as agonal breathing—a sign often observed in patients nearing death. Throughout the ordeal, a total of 11 defibrillations were administered: 7 at the scene and an additional 4 inside the ambulance.
Kim Yong Man and Kim Soo Yong expressed their amazement at the survival, noting that the chances of recovery significantly drop after five attempts with a defibrillator. Despite the near-zero odds, Kim Soo Yong regained consciousness during the final rounds of emergency treatment. Following the incident, Kim Soo Yong underwent vascular dilation surgery for acute myocardial infarction and has since made a full recovery. Lim Hyung Joon shared his gratitude for the many messages he received from colleagues and fans, realizing through the experience how much Kim Soo Yong is cherished by those around him.
