After a period of silence following past controversy, actress Go Min Si is making a notable return with a new film project.

According to MyDaily on January 13, Go Min Si has confirmed her appearance in the upcoming movie 'Moral Family' and is preparing for her first shoot. However, her agency, Mystic Story (Mystic Actors), stated that they are “currently checking the details,” stopping short of a full confirmation.

'Moral Family' centers on a grotesquely fractured family and follows a woman who has shouldered full responsibility for her household for 13 years. The family includes an eldest brother struggling with alcoholism, a younger sister who makes a living through online adult broadcasting, and a younger brother who comes out as gay and declares his independence. The fragile balance collapses when their mother, who left home 15 years earlier, suddenly returns, triggering deep fractures within the family.

Go Min Si has been cast as Kim Seon Ji, the family’s sole breadwinner. The character is complex: outwardly sharp and cold, yet emotionally fragile and prone to tears beneath her tough exterior.

Last year, Go Min Si earned praise for her supporting role in 'The World of Love,' a film widely regarded as one of the standout Korean films of the year.

'Moral Family' was first introduced as a stage play in 2018, drawing significant attention after actor Jung Woo Sung fully funded its production. The play was produced by Kim Sun Young and received strong critical and audience response during its run.

The film adaptation will be directed by Lee Seung Won, known for Three Sisters. Lee Seung Won is also the husband of producer Kim Sun Young.

Script readings are scheduled for January 16, with full-scale filming set to begin next month.

Go Min Si rose to prominence as a next-generation star through films such as 'The Witch' and the Netflix series 'Sweet Home,' later gaining widespread popularity with works including 'Youth of May,' 'Smugglers,' and 'The Frog.'

In May last year, Go Min Si became embroiled in allegations of school bullying. A post on the online community DC Inside, written by someone claiming to be her middle school classmate, accused an actress identified as “Go ○○” of engaging in school violence, extortion, verbal abuse, and mocking and threatening students with disabilities.

In response, Mystic Story strongly denied the allegations, stating they were “clearly false and completely unfounded,” and warned of legal action against malicious posts that damage the actress’s reputation.

In late August, Go Min Si personally addressed the issue, acknowledging that she had been immature and rebellious during her school years but firmly denying any involvement in school violence. “I endured gossip and rumors, but I cannot accept being falsely accused simply because my past was imperfect,” she said. “I will clearly acknowledge what is true and firmly deny what is not.
