Girls’ Generation member and actress Seohyun is set to make a surprise transformation into a violinist.
According to her agency KKUMENT on January 14 KST, Seohyun will appear as a special guest performer at the Sol Philharmonic Orchestra’s 8th Regular Concert, scheduled for March 13 at 8 PM at Lotte Concert Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
During the performance, Seohyun will play Csárdás, a renowned work by Italian composer Vittorio Monti, known for its intense rhythms and emotionally charged melodies. Through this piece, she aims to share the appeal of classical music with a broader audience.
What makes this stage particularly noteworthy is that Seohyun has been learning the violin for only about five months and considers herself a hobbyist rather than a professional musician. Rather than striving for technical perfection, she plans to present a performance rooted in sincerity and a genuine love for music.
Her participation was made possible through shared values with the Sol Philharmonic Orchestra, which is composed of non-professional musicians united by their passion for classical music. By standing on stage herself, Seohyun hopes to lower the barriers often associated with classical performances and encourage more people to feel comfortable engaging with the genre.
Seohyun shared, “I hope that through my challenge, more people can feel closer to classical music and discover new enjoyment in it. I want to show that classical music, like pop music, is something everyone can easily enjoy — music that belongs to all of us.”
Though she began the violin as a hobby, Seohyun has been diligently rehearsing with the orchestra for this performance. Her violin playing is expected to offer pop music fans a fresh gateway into classical music, while bringing a sense of sincerity and refreshing energy to seasoned classical audiences.
A representative of the Sol Philharmonic Orchestra commented, “With Seohyun’s participation, we believe the entry barrier to classical concerts will be lowered even further. This will be a very special stage filled with a pure love for music.”
Conducted by Jo Sang Wook, the concert will also feature violinist Baek Ju Young and a diverse program including Symphony No.5 by Tchaikovsky, Danzón No.2 by Arturo Márquez, and “Spring” from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi. Tickets are available through Lotte Concert Hall and NOL Ticket.
