The first legal verdict regarding the "tampering" allegations involving the group Fifty Fifty is set to be delivered.
On January 15, the Seoul Central District Court (33rd Civil Division) will issue a ruling on a damages lawsuit worth approximately $1.6 million USD (2.1 billion KRW) filed by Jeon Hong Jun, the CEO of Attrakt, against Ahn Sung Il, the CEO of The Givers, and other associates.
CEO Jeon Hong Jun initiated the legal action in September 2023. He claimed that CEO Ahn Sung Il and Director Baek Jin Sil violated their obligations under the service contract with Attrakt, causing substantial financial losses through deceptive practices and breach of trust.
During the proceedings, Attrakt asserted, "CEO Ahn Sung Il embezzled over $114,000 USD (150 million KRW) by signing unauthorized service contracts. Director Baek Jin Sil also engaged in unlawful acts, such as rejecting advertisement offers without consent, shutting down the fan cafe, and deleting company email accounts."
In contrast, the legal team for Ahn Sung Il countered, "The service contract was terminated by mutual agreement, not unilaterally. The defendant had minimal involvement in the dispute between the plaintiff and the group members."
Fifty Fifty achieved global success after their song 'Cupid', released in February 2023, hit the U.S. Billboard charts. However, the group faced a major crisis in June of that year when the members filed an injunction to suspend their exclusive contracts, citing a breakdown of trust and alleging unfair treatment by Attrakt. The court dismissed the injunction in August.
While the members initially appealed the decision, Keena eventually withdrew her appeal and returned to Attrakt. The remaining members—Saena, Sio, and Aran—continued their legal challenge, but the injunction was ultimately rejected. Attrakt subsequently terminated their contracts and filed separate lawsuits for damages resulting from the breach of contract.
Following her return, Keena has been active in a reorganized version of Fifty Fifty alongside Chanelle Moon, Yewon, Hana, and Athena. Meanwhile, Aran, Saena, and Sio signed with Massive E&C, a subsidiary of IOK Company, in August 2024 and redebuted as Ablume under the production of Ahn Sung Il.
