Actor Ahn Bo Hyun shared the unexpected reason he decided to step away from MC work.
On January 6, the YouTube variety show 'Salon Drip' featured Ahn Bo Hyun alongside actress Lee Joo Bin, with the two appearing as leads of the drama 'Spring Fever.'
During the episode, host Jang Do Yeon recalled her past experience working with Ahn Bo Hyun. The two previously co hosted the 'MBC Entertainment Awards' in 2020. However, Ahn Bo Hyun surprised viewers by describing it as “a memory I don’t want to remember.”
He explained, “My eyesight isn’t good, and my color blindness was quite severe. I couldn’t read the cue cards, so I tried looking at the prompter instead, but the text color was too similar to Jang Do Yeon’s, so I couldn’t see it at all. Even after they changed the font color and size, it still didn’t work. I was honestly going crazy.”
Ahn Bo Hyun went on to reveal that he eventually underwent SMILE LASIK surgery after becoming frustrated with himself. When Jang Do Yeon joked that the situation helped ease the atmosphere, he responded with a laugh, saying, “Since I kept my eyes half closed, people close to me probably understood what was happening. After that, I decided not to do MC work anymore. I’ll only host a wedding and that’s it.”
His candid confession and lighthearted humor brought laughter to the studio, offering viewers an honest glimpse into the challenges he faced behind the scenes as an MC.
