Actor Chae Jong Hyup has donated 50 million KRW(34,500 USD) to support people living with epilepsy.
On January 7th KST, the Korea Epilepsy Association announced, “Actor Chae Jong Hyup made a donation to be used for medical expenses for epilepsy patients facing financial difficulties, as well as for awareness-improvement initiatives.”
Chae Jong Hyup shared, “I am well aware of the pain that people with epilepsy go through, and I hope this donation can be of even a small help,” adding, “I sincerely wish that my modest contribution this year can offer some strength to the children living with epilepsy and to those who care for them.”
Chae Jong Hyup was diagnosed with epilepsy during his high school years and was exempted from military service as a result.
Kim Heung Dong, chairman of the Korea Epilepsy Association and a pediatric neurologist at Kangbuk Samsung Hospital, stated, “This donation is a great source of encouragement, as it reflects a deep understanding of the hardships faced by epilepsy patients and their families. It is important for people with epilepsy to step forward and overcome the negative perceptions and stigma that still exist in society.”
Chae Jong Hyup gained public recognition for his role as Yoo Min Ho in the 2019 drama 'Stove League', and has since remained active through various dramas and variety programs. He is also set to appear in MBC’s upcoming Friday–Saturday drama 'In the Season of Your Radiance', scheduled to air in 2026.
