Red Velvet’s Yeri has been cast in the upcoming drama ‘Azure Spring.’
Yeri, whose real name is Kim Yerim, will star as the female lead Anna. She is set to portray a haenyeo (female diver), marking a new transformation in her acting career.
‘Azure Spring’ is a human drama that follows Deokhyeon, a man trapped in the past, and Anna, a job seeker who is afraid of the future. As they become a haenam (male diver) and a haenyeo, the two dive into the sea and gradually rediscover the meaning of life, emotional healing, and coexistence with forgotten neighbors.
The series is based on a popular webtoon of the same name by writer Jung Deok Hyun and was produced with support from the Korea Creative Content Agency.
Yeri’s character, Seo Anna, is a former youth national team athlete whose promising career ended due to an injury. After losing her dreams, she visits her mother’s hometown, where she meets Deok Hyun and begins to build a new dream and direction for her life.
Yeri debuted in 2015 as a member of Red Velvet. While she promoted as ‘Yeri’ during group activities, she later began acting under her real name Kim Yerim.
She gained recognition for her acting through projects and made her big screen debut earlier this year with the film ‘The Ghost Game: Possession.’
