
The case involving reporters who first disclosed actor Cho Jin Woong’s alleged juvenile criminal record has been assigned to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
According to police on December 16, the Anti-Corruption and Public Crimes Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is currently investigating a case in which two Dispatch reporters were accused of violating the Juvenile Act.
Attorney Kim Kyung Ho of Law Firm Hoin filed a complaint on December 7 through the National Petition Portal, alleging that the two reporters violated Article 70 of the Juvenile Act.
The article stipulates that institutions related to juvenile protection cases must not respond to any inquiries about case details except when required for trials, investigations, or military purposes. Violations are punishable by up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 10 million KRW (approx. 6,783 USD).
On December 5, Dispatch reported that Cho Jin Woong had committed a crime in his teenage years and received juvenile protective measures. As controversy grew, Cho Jin Woong acknowledged his past, stating that he had made mistakes as a minor, and subsequently announced his retirement from the entertainment industry.
