Director Park Chan Wook’s film 'No Other Choice' has been selected for the Academy Awards’ International Feature Film shortlist.

Meanwhile, the song “Golden” from the Netflix animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' has advanced to the shortlist for Best Original Song. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which oversees the Oscars, announced on December 16 the shortlists across 12 categories, including International Feature Film and Original Song, for the 98th Academy Awards.

In the International Feature Film category, 15 titles were shortlisted from submissions representing 86 countries and regions, including South Korea.

Joining 'No Other Choice' on the shortlist are Jafar Panahi’s 'It Was Just an Accident' (France), Joachim Trier’s 'Sentimental Value' (Norway), Kleber Mendonça Filho’s 'The Secret Agent' (Brazil), Japanese hit 'National Treasure' directed by Korean filmmaker Lee Sang Il, and 'The Voice of Hind Rajab' (Tunisia), which depicts the tragedy of a young girl in Gaza.

In the Best Original Song category, “Golden” was shortlisted alongside “The Girl in the Bubble” and “No Place Like Home” from the musical film 'Wicked: For Good'; “Dream as One” from 'Avatar: Fire and Ash'; “Drive” from 'F1'; and “I Ride to You” and “Last Time (I Seen the Sun)” from 'Sinners.'

Among the titles announced, 'Sinners' and 'Wicked: For Good' stood out by earning shortlist placements in eight overlapping categories, including casting, cinematography, makeup, sound, visual effects, original song, and score—boosting their prospects for multiple Oscar wins.

The final nominations will be revealed on January 22 next year, with the 98th Academy Awards ceremony scheduled for March 15.

Previously, 'No Other Choice' was also nominated at the Golden Globe Awards in three categories: Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Foreign Language Film, and Best Actor for Lee Byung Hun.

'K-Pop Demon Hunters' has likewise secured Golden Globe nominations for Best Animated Feature, Best Original Song, and the Box Office Achievement Award.

At the Critics Choice Awards, presented by North American film critics and journalists, 'No Other Choice' received nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Foreign Language Film, while 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' was nominated for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Golden.”
