Netflix is releasing a highly anticipated new Korean drama today (the 26th), packed with some of the industry’s most talked-about actors.

The series, drawing attention for its extravagant casting, is titled 'Cashero.' It is a lifestyle-driven superhero drama that follows an ordinary salaried worker who gains a bizarre superpower: the more cash he holds in his hand, the stronger he becomes. The story centers on a local district office civil servant who has been obsessively saving for marriage expenses and a newlywed home, only to inherit an uncanny ability that makes money disappear the moment it is spent.

Lee Jun Ho
, who recently proved his box-office power with tvN’s 'Typhoon Family,' which recorded a peak viewership rating of 10.3%, takes on the lead role of Kang Sang Woong. He portrays the transformation of a battered office worker into a reluctant superhero struggling between reality and extraordinary power.

Particular attention has also been drawn to Lee Chae Min, who joins the cast as a villain after leaving a strong impression as King Lee Heon in tvN’s 'Bon Appetit, Your Majesty,' which ended last September. Despite being cast at the last minute following Park Sung Hoon’s sudden departure, Lee’s performance helped push the drama’s finale ratings to 17.1%.

In 'Cashero,' Lee Chae Min plays Jonathan, the youngest son of the chairman of the “Criminal Society,” an organization that hunts down superpowered individuals. This marks his first-ever villain role. At the production press conference held on the 22nd at The Westin Josun Seoul in Gangnam, he explained, “Jonathan is the next-generation heir of the Criminal Society. On the surface, the organization looks like an ordinary corporation, but in reality, it hunts superpowered individuals and steals their abilities.”

He added, “This is my first time playing a villain. I focused on the keyword ‘hunting.’ Jonathan is a character who stops at nothing to reach his target, and I approached the role with the mindset of someone who enjoys the act of the hunt.”

The production team described Jonathan as someone who feels no emotion when threatening others and will stop at nothing to obtain what he wants. In the released stills, Lee Chae Min appears in simple clothing with a gentle exterior, yet his unreadable expressions and intense gaze reveal the character’s deep-seated ambition.

Speaking about returning with a new project just two months after 'Bon Appetit, Your Majesty,' Lee Chae Min said, “I’m grateful to be able to meet viewers again so soon through another project. I’m actually excited to show a completely different side of myself, and I really want to present a strong performance.

Kang Han Na
also transforms into a villain, playing Joanna, the confident heir of the Criminal Society. Raised in immense wealth, her character is arrogant and domineering. As siblings, Joanna and Jonathan move toward the same goal while competing fiercely for the position of successor.

Lee Jun Ho described his character as “far from extraordinary,” explaining, “He’s a civil servant who lives frugally to save for a newlywed home, but ends up in a bittersweet situation where he can only use his superpower in proportion to the money he’s holding. There’s a constant sense of hardship all the way through.”

He also shared his honest thoughts on the superpower itself. When asked how much of his real-life assets he would be willing to spend if he had the same ability, he replied, “Honestly, I don’t like my superpower.” He continued with a laugh, “The power I wanted was Bang Mi’s. She barely moves, and everything moves for her. I thought, ‘That’s what I want.’ I love food, so if I could use my superpower through eating, I think I’d spend all my money.”

Recently released stills show Sang Woong, covered in dust, clutching cash as he fights off multiple opponents. His financially savvy fiancée, Min Sook (played by Kim Hye Jun), grows increasingly worried about his money-draining superpower. As the couple, who painstakingly saved for their wedding, confront an ability that causes their savings to vanish, viewers are left wondering what choices they will make.

Additional stills also tease the appearance of Byun Ho In (Kim Byung Chul), the head of the Korean Superpower Association, who urges Sang Woong to help save the world, as well as superpowered character Bang Eun Mi, known as “Bang Mi” (Kim Hyang Gi), heightening anticipation for the unfolding story.

The series is directed by Lee Chang Min, known for his stylish and witty direction in dramas such as 'Agency' and 'Welcome to Waikiki.' 'Cashero' consists of eight episodes and will premiere on Netflix at 5 PM on the 26th.
