Girls' Generation's Yuri has taken legal action against an individual who impersonated someone close to her, with the offender receiving a fine.
SM Entertainment announced through social media on December 17, "Punitive measures, including a fine, have been finalized against an individual who damaged Kwon Yuri’s reputation by impersonating her acquaintance and spreading false information."
The agency added, "Based on reports from fans and ongoing monitoring, we are continuously pursuing legal action against those who post malicious content targeting Kwon Yuri across platforms such as Instagram, X, and YouTube."
Investigations into several other related cases are also currently underway. SM emphasized, “We will respond firmly to all illegal acts that infringe upon the rights of our artists, without any leniency or settlements,” adding that the company will pursue “all possible civil and criminal measures.”
An SM representative further stated, “We will continue to do our utmost in every aspect to protect the rights and interests of our artists, and we urge the public to exercise caution to avoid engaging in actions that could lead to legal punishment.”
Meanwhile, Yuri is set to meet fans through her third fan meeting tour, ‘YURIVERSE,’ on January 24, 2026, at Yonsei University Centennial Memorial Hall.
