YouTuber Nareum TV, who has more than 2.6 million subscribers, has spoken out with allegations that one of the people who bullied her during her school years later debuted as an idol.
On December 18, Nareum TV uploaded a video to her personal channel titled 'The school bully who even made an anti fan café about me ended up debuting as an idol,' stressing that the story was “100 percent true.” She also shared a poster from Mnet’s 'PRODUCE 101 season 2.'
In the video, Nareum TV recalled recognizing a familiar face while watching television several years ago. “I was flipping through channels when an audition program, 'PRODUCE 101 season 2,' came on, and I saw someone I recognized. It was one of the people who bullied me at school,” she said. She explained that she experienced school violence when she was in the fourth grade, around the age of ten. “People might say, ‘Ten is so young. Wasn’t it just playing around?’ But even at ten, kids can be very cruel,” she added.
She went on to say that the alleged bully created an anti-fan café dedicated to her and posted hateful comments every day. “Can you imagine what it feels like for a ten-year-old to read posts filled with insults about themselves?” she asked. Nareum TV said she still does not understand what she did wrong at the time, describing herself as a very timid child who kept to herself.
She also shared a painful memory that has stayed with her for years. “It became too hard to endure, so I told my mom. After a meeting with my homeroom teacher, I remember crying in a taxi on the way home and saying, ‘If I die, will they get punished? I hope they do.’ Even now, twenty years later, I remember the atmosphere of that day and every word that was said,” she said.
According to Nareum TV, she later tried to contact the alleged bully but was ignored. “I opened Facebook one day and saw that person again. I gathered the courage to send a message, but it ended with being ignored,” she recalled.
She added that although the individual was eliminated and did not debut through 'PRODUCE 101 season 2,' they have since debuted under a different agency. Despite this, Nareum TV said she does not wish for the person to fail. “I do not want them to fall apart. They are not a very famous idol yet, but just as everyone has their own time to shine, I believe that person will have theirs too,” she said. “When that time comes, I hope they can simply apologize and say we were young back then. I want to be able to say, ‘Yes, we really were young,’ and sincerely cheer them on with a smile.”
Following her disclosure, Nareum TV’s twin sister and fellow creator Dareum also shared her feelings. “Thinking about that time still makes me upset. I cannot forget standing in the hallway while our homeroom teacher and parents held a meeting in the classroom,” she said.
Meanwhile, Nareum TV is a popular mukbang creator with 2.6 million subscribers. She has also appeared on JTBC’s 'Lanlife' and IHQ’s 'MUK FIA Season 1,' gaining wider public recognition.
