YG Entertainment (YG) Chief Producer Yang Hyun Suk will appear at the global K-POP awards ceremony 2025 MAMA AWARDS for the first time in 11 years. His presence at an official event is unusual, drawing attention from both inside and outside the industry.
Yang Hyun Suk has confirmed his attendance at the 2025 MAMA AWARDS, held at Hong Kong Kai Tak Stadium on November 28th and 29th.
His last appearance at MAMA was in 2014, when the group WINNER received the Rookie of the Year award. At the time, they expressed their gratitude, saying, "We would like to thank CEO Yang Hyun Suk for always believing in and supporting us," which left a warm impression.
The reason behind Yang’s return after 11 years is his next-generation performance line, BABYMONSTER and TREASURE.
BABYMONSTER has stood out this year as a ‘performance master’ group, rapidly expanding its global fandom, while TREASURE has solidified its reputation as a symbol of ‘performance boy groups’ amid the success of their second-half tours.
Notably, this year’s MAMA AWARDS announced an official collaboration with the Netflix hit ‘K-POP Demon Hunters’, featuring BABYMONSTER members. Through WONDER STAGE, members Pharita, Ahyeon, and Rora will bring the movie’s narrative and scenes to life. With their exceptional vocal skills, BABYMONSTER members are expected to deliver large-scale performances designed to attract global attention.
Since Yang Hyun Suk officially returned as Chief Producer in 2023, YG has rapidly shifted direction at a critical juncture. By returning to the core of the music business, focusing on talent-centered artist development and content quality enhancement, YG has reaffirmed its presence in the entertainment industry and even returned to profitability.
BABYMONSTER released their second mini-album ‘WE GO UP’ last month and continues to ride a wave of momentum. They are connecting with fans globally through 12 shows in six Asian cities. TREASURE is currently on the ‘2025-26 TREASURE TOUR [PULSE ON]’, meeting fans worldwide, and will follow 2025 MAMA AWARDS with performances at ‘2025 SBS Gayo Daejeon’ and Japan’s Fuji TV ‘2025 FNS Music Festival’.
Yang Hyun Suk’s return after 11 years, combined with BABYMONSTER and TREASURE’s year-end global performance expansion, sets the stage for 2025 MAMA AWARDS to attract even greater attention.
