Five years have now passed since the beloved comedian, the late Park Ji Sun, left the world.
November 2nd marks the 5th anniversary of her passing. On November 2, 2020, Park Ji Sun was found deceased with her mother at their home in Mapo-gu, Seoul. She was 36 years old. At the time, police found no signs of a break-in and a note was discovered, leading them to conclude there was no foul play. Her passing came just one day before her birthday.
Park Ji Sun had been receiving treatment for a chronic illness for a long time and was known to have suffered from a sun allergy and seborrheic dermatitis. In a past broadcast, her parents tearfully mentioned that it was a "miracle" their daughter could work as a celebrity.
Born in 1984, Park Ji Sun graduated from Korea University with a degree in Education before debuting as a comedian in 2007 through KBS's 22nd open recruitment. She won the hearts of viewers with her witty and cheerful humor on popular segments of 'Gag Concert' like 'Bongsunga School' and 'Solo Heaven, Couple Hell'.
She later showcased her versatility as an MC for various variety shows and events. She also published a book titled 'The Awesome Comedian', a collection of 95 pieces she had written.
The sudden news of her death sent a deep shock through her colleagues and fans. Even after five years, many continue to remember and mourn her. Recently, actress Lee Yoon Ji and singer Ali visited her memorial. Lee Yoon Ji shared a touching message, saying, "On my way to you today, the path felt unfamiliar, and I kept looking around. I wondered how you could have gone down that road you'd never been on, and my heart felt like it had swallowed salt water. It's autumn. Soon, the leaves will be colored with fall." Ali also wrote, "Thanks to you being in a field of flowers, we had a picnic. I especially missed your cute and sharp snaggletooth today."
