ITZY members Yuna and Ryujin have each secured lead acting roles in a new drama and an upcoming film.
On November 24, tvN confirmed that Yuna has been cast in the new drama 'Favorite Employee (working English title),' and she will be playing a top actress within the storyline. This marks her second acting project following her confirmed role in the yet-to-air tvN series 'Undercover Miss Hong (working English title),' starring Park Shin Hye and Go Kyung Pyo, slated for broadcast next year.
Fans have welcomed the news, as Yuna has long been nicknamed a “born actress” by supporters who have praised her natural screen presence and stunning beauty.
Fellow member Ryujin—also often called an “actress in the making”—is also continuing to step into acting as well. According to multiple media reports on the 6th, she wrapped filming for the movie 'Night on Earth' (directed by Jung Soo Hyun), in which she has been cast.
'Night on Earth' is set in a society thrown into chaos after the appearance of mutant jellyfish. It follows Soo (played by Kim Dan), a young man who hides away in his bathtub to avoid life but begins to rediscover himself after encountering people at an illegal clinic called “Manbok Pension.” Based on the short story of the same name by writer Im Sun Woo, the fantasy coming-of-age film is currently in post-production and aims for invitations to major domestic and international film festivals.
Ryujin plays Kang, a staff member at Manbok Pension and a close aide to its owner, Hee Jo (Park Yu Rim). Her character blends a boyish charm with a warm, gentle inner world.
Meanwhile, ITZY is a five-member K-pop girl group composed of Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna. As leaders of the fourth-generation girl group scene, they remain at the forefront of K-pop. On November 10, they released their new mini-album 'Tunnel Vision' along with the title track of the same name. In February, they will embark on their third world tour, TUNNEL VISION, beginning with three shows at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul from February 13 to 15.
