Disney+ has unveiled the first character poster and teaser for its year-end flagship original series 'Made in Korea,' headlined by Hyun Bin.
The thriller boasts a star-studded cast including Hyun Bin, Jung Woo Sung, Woo Do Hwan, and Jo Yeo Jung. Set in the 1970s, the drama follows Baek Ki Tae (played by Hyun Bin), a high-ranking official at the Korean Central Intelligence Agency who uses the nation itself as a business model in his pursuit of wealth and power. Opposing him is prosecutor Jang Gun Young (played by Jung Woo Sung), who relentlessly tracks him down in a battle of grit and ambition.
Baek Ki Tae leads a dangerous double life, balancing his position at the center of state power with illicit business dealings. Jang Gun Young’s unyielding pursuit pushes Ki Tae to the brink, pulling him into a web of explosive incidents.
Woo Do Hwan plays Baek Ki Hyun, Ki Tae’s younger brother and an elite officer from the Korea Military Academy. A complex character, Ki Hyun harbors both deep-seated resentment and ambition toward his older brother. The series is further bolstered by proven talents such as Jo Yeo Jeong, Seo Eun Soo, Won Ji An, Jung Sung Il, and Noh Jae Won.
Even before the debut of Season 1, the series drew attention by confirming a Season 2 renewal. The decision comes ahead of the first premiere on December 24. Season 2 is currently in production and slated for release in the second half of 2026.
The newly released poster for Baek Ki Tae features Hyun Bin’s chilling gaze as he wears wiretapping gear, set against a silhouette reminiscent of the Korean Peninsula. The tagline “I am a businessman” heightens anticipation for the perilous world he inhabits.
In the character video, Hyun Bin exudes icy charisma in stark black-and-white. It opens with his narration: “In this game, someone has to die. And it won’t be me.” Sharp edits and tense music build urgency and immersion.
One standout line — “I will drag down those with more power than me and ultimately change the world. This world is a battlefield for the powerful, where someone’s death becomes my opportunity” — encapsulates Ki Tae’s worldview and the ruthless era he represents.
The series is directed by Woo Min Ho, known for major films such as 'The Man Standing Next,' 'The Drug King,' and 'Inside Men,' marking his first OTT and first drama project.
Hyun Bin and Jung Woo Sung reunite with the director after last year’s film 'Harbin.' For Hyun Bin, this is his first drama in nearly five years since 'Crash Landing on You,' while Jung Woo Sung marks his first appearance in an OTT drama.
At a recent preview event in Hong Kong, Jung Woo Sung explained, “We placed fictional characters into real events of modern Korean history. The show pushes human desire and survival to the extreme in a distinctive way.”
Hyun Bin added, “I’m happy to greet fans through a series format. I hope we all have a fiery winter with this project.”
The cast expressed strong confidence in the series. When asked to describe it in one word, Jung Woo Sung replied, “Because it’s fun.” Hyun Bin responded, “Because we're good-looking. Watch it and see for yourself.” Woo Do Hwan noted, “It becomes more enjoyable when you follow the emotions and immerse yourself in each character’s mindset.”
The six-episode series will release its first two episodes on December 24, followed by two more on December 31. One episode will drop every Wednesday thereafter.
Online reactions are already enthusiastic: “Disney is making great dramas lately,” “The casting is unbelievable,” “Hyun Bin’s presence is insane,” and “What a powerhouse lineup.” International fans echoed the excitement, cementing the show’s status as a global must-watch.
