Veteran actor Lee Moon Su passed away at the age of 76.
Lim Dae Il, director of the Korea Association of Theatre Actors, confirmed the news in a phone call with Dispatch on November 29, stating, “Lee Moon Su left us after a long battle with illness.”
Lee Moon Su had been undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with lung cancer. Although his condition had shown signs of improvement, he reportedly experienced a sudden decline in health on November 28 and passed away later that day.
His wake has been arranged at Room 2 of the Hanyang University Hospital Funeral Hall in Seoul’s Seongdong District. The funeral will be held on December 1, and he will be laid to rest at the Namyangju Eden Memorial Park.
After graduating from Seoul Institute of the Arts, Lee Moon Su joined the National Theater Company of Korea in 1989. He built a distinguished stage career with performances in 'King Lear,' 'Nathan the Wise,' and 'Death of a Salesman.'
He also delivered memorable work on screen, appearing in films such as 'Guns & Talks,' 'Going by the Book,' and 'Hello Ghost,' as well as the hit drama 'The Signal.'
In 2010, he received a commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism in recognition of his contributions to the performing arts as a longtime member of the National Theater Company.
