JTBC’s new Friday drama 'Love Me' released its first teaser video, offering a glimpse into the lives of Seo Hyun Jin, Yoo Jae Myung, and Lee Si Woo—family members who, despite their bond, have become each other’s loneliest companions. The teaser has already sparked curiosity about the unfolding story.
'Love Me' depicts a family that, while seemingly ordinary, begins to grow and discover love in its own way, highlighting how even slightly selfish desires can lead to deeper personal connections. The drama is based on the Swedish original series of the same name, created by Josephine Bornebusch. The show is directed by Cho Young Min, with scripts by Park Eun Young and Park Hee Kwon.
Seo Hyun Jin plays obstetrician Seo Jun Kyung, a successful single woman who outwardly seems successful and attractive but carries a deep loneliness stemming from a sudden family tragedy that occurred seven years ago. Yoo Jae Myung portrays her father, Seo Jin Ho, who has maintained a smiling exterior while hiding exhaustion and long-held guilt. Lee Si Woo takes on the role of Jun Kyung’s younger brother, Seo Jun Seo, capturing the vulnerability, naivety, and uncertainties of a young adult seeking love and affirmation.
Supporting roles include Yoon Se Ah, Jang Ryul, Dahyun, Jang Hye Jin, Kim Shana, Lee Ji Hye, Oh Dong Min, Park Sung Yeon, and Jung Seung Gil.
The teaser highlights the cracks within the family. It suggests that Jun Kyung, Jin Ho, and Jun Seo have been unable to connect, each carrying burdens that make them the loneliest people in one another’s lives. Although they appear to maintain their individual roles, they are trapped in profound solitude. Jun Kyung pretends independence but walks the streets at night to cope with loneliness. Jin Ho meticulously cares for his wife Kim Mi Ran (played by Jang Hye Jin) yet admits, “I’m actually very tired,” evoking sympathy. Meanwhile, Jun Seo, living what appears to be a vibrant youth under bright lights, confesses, “I feel like the loneliest person in the world.” Arguments over each other’s self-centeredness mirror the challenges of real-life family dynamics.

The family has endured seven years of quietly struggling to survive in their own ways, shaped by the sudden accident that befell Mi Ran. Following the incident, Jin Ho copes with caregiving and financial responsibilities, Jun Kyung wrestles with guilt and responsibility, and Jun Seo drifts without support, eventually facing devastating misfortune. A voiceover from Jun Kyung hints at a profound loss: “The four of us became three one day,” implying Mi Ran’s death. Their vacant expressions during a church funeral mass reflect the irreversibility of their grief. A car accident later accompanies Jun Kyung’s admission, “I don’t think we’re really a good family for each other,” revealing the raw reality of their pain and leaving viewers with lingering questions about their journey toward healing.

The production team explained, “Though Jun Kyung, Jin Ho, and Jun Seo may appear ordinary, they are a family trapped in the irony of loneliness—lonely when alone and lonely even together. The misfortunes they face will lead them from solitude to love, and from love to personal growth.” They urged viewers to witness the family’s journey of healing and self-love from the first broadcast.
Fans have already expressed excitement online, praising the drama for its human and heartfelt portrayal of family: “Finally, a family drama that feels real,” “I can’t wait for this,” and “Seo Hyun Jin is always a reliable choice.”
'Love Me' will premiere on JTBC on December 19 at 8:50 PM, airing the first two episodes consecutively.
