Actor Yoo Yeon Seok has been appointed as a member of the organizing committee for the International Forum for World Youth (IFWY).
According to MBC on October 21, Yoo Yeon Seok will attend the opening ceremony of the IFWY Seoul Final Conference at Hanyang University on October 27. There, he is scheduled to deliver a special speech before UN officials, global youth representatives, and an audience of 150 participants from around the world. Having long resonated with younger generations through his acting, Yoo’s upcoming speech on sustainable change and solidarity from a youth perspective has already drawn attention.
Ahead of the event, Yoo Yeon Seok took part in a commemorative ceremony marking his official appointment as an organizing committee member. During the ceremony, he joined international youth participants in wearing the official IFWY 2025 hoodie, symbolizing unity and shared purpose. Yoo expressed his commitment, saying, “Together with young people, we will build a sustainable future through solidarity.”
Jointly organized by the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), MBC, Hanyang University, and Eunpyeong District Office, the International Forum for World Youth (IFWY) will hold its Seoul Final Conference from October 27 to 29. Under the slogan 'Connect for Change,' the forum serves as a global agenda platform where youth from around the world propose initiatives and develop actionable strategies. During the final conference, 150 youth leaders from across continents will convene to adopt a joint declaration for a sustainable future, based on the topics discussed during their respective regional dialogues.
The IFWY Organizing Committee, launched to ensure the successful execution of the forum, brings together representatives from politics, academia, civil society, youth organizations, and the cultural and arts sectors. Yoo Yeon Seok, participating as a special speaker, has earned acclaim for his wide-ranging performances in hit dramas such as 'Mr. Sunshine,' 'Hospital Playlist,' and 'The Interest of Love.' Known for his emotional depth and steady acting, he is regarded as one of Korea’s most reliable and respected actors.
Earlier this year, Yoo received the Best Actor Award in the Mini-Series category at the '2024 MBC Drama Awards' for his role in 'When the Phone Rings.' Recently, he has continued engaging with fans through his YouTube channel Weekend Yeon Seok Theater, where he produces socially conscious content such as 'Plant & Gone,' a project promoting urban gardening and community service. Yoo’s consistent involvement in volunteer work and advocacy for social issues has solidified his reputation as an actor of integrity and positive influence.
