TXT’s Beomgyu has reportedly been a victim of copyright infringement.
On October 16, BIGHIT MUSIC announced via the global fan platform Weverse that it plans to take legal action regarding Beomgyu’s solo track, “Take My Half.”
The song, included in TXT’s fourth full album 'The Star Chapter: Together,' was co-written and composed by Beomgyu himself.
About a month after the solo release, a song with the same title appeared on multiple music platforms. Its melody, rhythm, and harmonies were found to be strikingly similar to Beomgyu’s original, sparking allegations of plagiarism.
Beomgyu’s team is reportedly reviewing the matter. The agency stated, “Based on clear similarities, we are discussing further legal measures with our law firm.”
The agency also emphasized the importance of protecting artistic works, saying, “An artist’s creation is a unique asset that deserves respect. We will take all necessary actions to safeguard rightful ownership.”
Addressing fans, BIGHIT MUSIC added, “We apologize for causing concern and will do our best to foster a healthy creative environment.”
Meanwhile, TXT recently partnered with UNICEF, committing 1.4 million USD (approximately 1.99 billion KRW) over the next two years in collaboration with their agency.
