TWICE member Chaeyoung reflected on the most challenging moments of her idol career, revealing that there was a time she considered quitting the group.
On October 9, a new episode of the YouTube show SPNS TV titled “Chaeyoung and Shoes Off EP.74 | Idols Are People Too” was released, featuring the TWICE rapper as she marked her 10th anniversary since debut.
Chaeyoung shared candidly, “I clenched my teeth and endured it. Even if you love what you do, it is still a job, and you cannot always do only what you love. When the schedule gets packed, your body becomes exhausted, but you still have to do things you do not want to. I held on while trying to take care of my inner self.”
When asked about the hardest part of her career, she confessed, “Not being able to sleep.” She continued, “The most difficult time was during our "Cheer Up" and "TT" promotions. I only had about 30 minutes to sleep and still had to go to school. At one point, I said, ‘I don’t think I can do TWICE anymore.’ I really did not know if I could keep doing it. It was serious, and I even fought a lot with my mom about it. She told me, ‘You have worked so hard for three and a half years, don’t you think it would be a waste to stop now?’”
Despite the hardships, Chaeyoung expressed gratitude for the supportive and close-knit atmosphere among TWICE members. “All the members are really kind and considerate,” she said. “If there is a problem, we always talk it out. Decisions are made by majority vote, and once something is decided, no one complains afterward. That is how we have agreed to handle things, so it feels easier to share opinions.”
She also described the group’s internal dynamic, adding, “Nayeon and Sana are the mood-makers, while Jihyo handles things that need organizing. We each have our own roles. Mine is being the cute youngest member who gets lots of love,” she said with a laugh.
