The son of a well-known celebrity couple referred to prosecutors on charges of assaulting and threatening his then-wife during their marriage.
According to an investigation summary obtained by Newsis on October 30, Guri Police Station in Gyeonggi Province transferred a 31-year-old man, identified only as A, to the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors’ Office on September 30. He faces charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (Assault on a Driver), intimidation, and obstruction of business.
A is accused of striking his wife, B, 28, in the face on September 29 last year in the Gyomun-dong area of Guri while she was about to drive. He allegedly took her mobile phone to prevent her from calling the police and made threats against her. The couple finalized their divorce on March 5 this year following a court-mediated settlement.

In an interview with Newsis, B claimed that A had shown violent tendencies even during their relationship. "He had a habit of using his hands, both while we were dating and after we got married," she said. "At the time, since we were planning to marry, I decided not to report it or go to the hospital. I just endured it."
She added, "I wish I could go back to before I met him. What I’ve suffered is one thing, but what my family had to go through was far worse." A’s side denied the allegations, saying, "Sometimes couples argue or get physical during dating, that happens," and emphasized that "nothing has been decided yet."
