On the morning of October 30, the Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 41, presided over by Judge Jung Hoe Il, delivered its ruling in the lawsuit filed by ADOR seeking confirmation of the validity of exclusive contracts with NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein.
The court stated, “It cannot be recognized that the defendants, the NewJeans members, are being forced to engage in entertainment activities against their free will,” adding, “The exclusive contracts remain valid, and ADOR retains its position as the management agency of NewJeans under those contracts.”
Following the ruling that the exclusive contracts between ADOR and NewJeans remain valid, the members, represented by Shin & Kim LLC, issued an official statement expressing that it is impossible for them to return to ADOR and announcing their intention to file an immediate appeal.
Shin & Kim LLC stated, “While the members respect the court’s judgment, given that the relationship of trust with ADOR has been completely destroyed, it is impossible for them to return to ADOR and continue normal entertainment activities.”
The firm continued, “The members plan to immediately appeal the first-instance ruling. They sincerely hope that the appellate court will comprehensively review the factual circumstances and legal principles surrounding the termination of the exclusive contracts and deliver a wise and fair decision.”
Lastly, the statement conveyed the members’ gratitude to their fans, saying, “We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the fans who have waited patiently and supported us for such a long time.”
According to the ruling, NewJeans’ exclusive contracts with ADOR are valid until July 31, 2029.
