Hoshi, a member of the group SEVENTEEN, has once again contributed to improving educational infrastructure for children and youth.
On September 16th KST, the Northern Gyeonggi branch of the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea announced that Hoshi recently donated ₩100 million (approximately $72,000 USD). The donation will be used to construct and renovate classrooms at Mansansa Public School in Ndola, Zambia.
Mansansa Public School currently has approximately 350 students from kindergarten to grade 7, but only two of its classrooms have been operational. Hoshi and his parents have pledged to build and donate five classrooms across two buildings to help students pursue their dreams in a more stable learning environment. Last year, Hoshi also donated ₩100 million to the same organization to support facility improvements at Luang Prabang Goa School in Laos.
Hoshi shared, “I wanted to give even a small amount of strength and encouragement to growing children. I hope the students will be able to nurture their dreams in a healthier environment within the newly built classrooms.”
Since his debut, Hoshi has continuously practiced generosity and spread positive influence. In 2021, he became a member of the Love Fruit Honor Society, a group of high-value donors contributing over ₩100 million, by donating the same amount. He has also actively supported disaster relief efforts, aid for marginalized communities, and various programs for children and youth.
SEVENTEEN as a group is also known for their global contributions. They were the first K-pop artists appointed as UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassadors, and have led efforts to establish a $1 million USD fund in support of youth worldwide.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Hoshi entered military training camp to begin his mandatory service in the Korean Army. He is the fourth SEVENTEEN member to enlist, following Jeonghan, Wonwoo, and most recently, Woozi, who joined the military the day before.
