Funny and heartfelt behind-the-scenes moments from Kim Jong Kook’s wedding have been unveiled.
On the September 21 broadcast of SBS 'Running Man,' actor Cha Tae Hyun, one of Kim Jong Kook’s closest friends, appeared as a guest, while the permanent cast members also shared stories from the wedding.
In particular, Yoo Jae Suk, who hosted the ceremony, teased Kim Jong Kook by recalling, "As the groom entered, he shushed the guests, telling everyone 'shh' as he walked in." He continued, "It was the first time I saw a groom telling guests to be quiet during his entrance. As I announced 'the groom’s entrance,' he covered his mouth with his finger and hushed his juniors who were sitting among the guests," playfully teasing Kim Jong Kook.
Kim Jong Kook waved his hands in denial, laughing as he explained, "You’re exaggerating too much."
Actor Cha Tae Hyun added humor by saying, "Now I’m starting to have reasonable suspicions about this wedding. Was it all just a ruse?" making everyone burst into laughter.
Cha Tae Hyun went on, "I arrived an hour before the wedding, and for the first time, I saw Jong Kook doing a song rehearsal. Then, all of a sudden, he asked me to sing a congratulatory song. I was asked so suddenly that I ended up singing the song 'I LOVE YOU' live without accompaniment."
Kim Jong Kook admitted that the idea came up at the last minute because he wanted a close friend to contribute something meaningful to the ceremony, whatever it might be.
Yang Se Chan and HaHa shared, "Because we know the friendship between you two, we were really moved to tears when Cha Tae Hyun sang the congratulatory song."
Regarding the wedding gifts Kim Jong Kook received, Yoo Jae Suk revealed, "Today, I saw Jong Kook scolding Yang Se Chan and Choi Daniel, saying 'Are you crazy? Why did you give so much for the cash gift?'" He added that Kim Jong Kook also scolded him.
Kim Jong Kook admitted, "That’s true. Yoo Jae Suk even hosted the ceremony but still gave way too much," agreeing with a laugh. Yoo Jae Suk continued, "But when it came to Ji Suk Jin, he only said, 'Thank you, hyung,'" sending the studio into laughter.
Ji Suk Jin quickly defended himself, saying, "Out of all the wedding gifts I’ve ever given in my life, yours was the biggest."
Kim Jong Kook responded warmly, "Hyung, you really did give a lot," but also admitted, "I was also surprised by your amount, but those other guys gave way too much."
On this topic, the production team of 'Running Man' even played back actual audio from the day. In the clip, Kim Jong Kook was heard angrily telling Yang Se Chan and Choi Daniel, "Are you out of your mind? Why did you give so much for the cash gift?" Then, in contrast, his calm voice was heard thanking Ji Suk Jin with, "Thank you, hyung," drawing more laughter.
The members also teased, "He said he would keep the wedding simple, but it lasted an hour and a half. There was even a second part. How is that simple? It was the longest wedding we’ve ever been to. The main ceremony alone lasted an hour."
