Director Kang Yun Sung is set to bring audiences Korea’s first AI-produced feature film this fall with Run to the West. Distributor CGV announced on September 24 that the film will officially open in theaters on October 15, releasing its main trailer the same day.
The trailer teases large-scale destruction as a massive pillar of fire descends from the sky, engulfing central Gwanghwamun. Soon after, mysterious creatures appear on the streets, setting the stage for chaos.
Audiences also get a glimpse of the main cast, featuring Byun Yo Han as Jang Won, Yang Se Jong as Jae Beom, Lim Hyung Jun as Seok Tae, Kim Kang Woo as Min Young, and Bang Hyo Rin as Seol Ah.
Toward the end of the trailer, a chilling narration says, “It is over now. The King of the Grim Reapers, he is coming,” increasing curiosity about the mysterious figure’s identity and motives.
'Run to the West' is a high-octane chase action blockbuster. The story follows those trapped in the space between the living world and the afterlife as they clash with grim reapers determined to annihilate their souls.
The project is directed by Kang Yun Sung, who is known for his work on Disney+ series 'Low Life' and 'Big Bet,' as well as the box-office hit 'The Roundup,' which drew over 10 million viewers.
'Run to the West' will be released in theaters nationwide on October 15.
