MONSTA X’s Shownu shared a touching story about Lee Hyori.
Shownu appeared on the variety content ‘Leemujin Service’, where he performed live with Lee Mu Jin.
In the video, Shownu mentioned his past experience working as a dancer for Lee Hyori, drawing attention. “I spent about two years as a trainee at JYP Entertainment, and after becoming an adult, I thought it would be good to gain stage experience, keep practicing, and also make some pocket money,” he recalled.
He continued, “At that time, I heard they needed someone with a tall, striking visual for Lee Hyori noona’s ‘Bad Girls’ album promotions, and I got the chance to stand right in front and appear in a two-shot with her.”
What left the deepest impression, Shownu explained, was Lee Hyori’s attitude toward her dance team. “I don’t know if it’s the same now, but back then she didn’t eat meat herself. Still, she always took us out to barbecue restaurants. Whenever she had a drink, she would suddenly pull out a 50,000 won bill to give us. At that time, I was making about 40,000 won from a broadcast appearance, but she would hand us 100,000 won as allowance.”
He added another memorable gesture: “Because the dance team often performed with some skin exposure, she prepaid dozens of tanning sessions at a big tanning shop in Apgujeong so we could use them. I was really touched by those small yet thoughtful acts in daily life.”
Hearing this, Lee Mu Jin commented, “You can only truly understand how to treat your colleagues after going through many experiences, but being able to learn that right away by watching her must have been a precious lesson.”
