MONSTA X’s I.M has officially entered the FA (free agent) market following the conclusion of his exclusive contract with Sony Music Korea.
On September 15, Sony Music Korea released a statement through its official SNS, announcing,
“After careful discussions, we have mutually agreed to end our exclusive contract with I.M. Since signing with us in 2022, I.M has continued to strengthen his unique musical world over the past three years. We are deeply grateful to I.M for sharing his music and sincerity with us, and we will always support him with affection. We ask for much love and interest in his future endeavors.”
I.M departed from Starship Entertainment in August 2022 and later signed with Sony Music Korea that November. Since then, he has released solo projects including the digital single Slowly, as well as mini albums OVERDRIVE and Off The Beat. He also successfully wrapped up his first solo world tour, ‘I.M WORLD TOUR FINAL IN SEOUL,’ performing across 18 cities in 10 countries from May 2023 through January 2024.
Despite leaving Starship for his solo activities, I.M has continued to promote with MONSTA X. Most recently, he joined the group for their 10th anniversary concerts ‘2025 MONSTA X CONNECT X’ in Korea and Japan this past July and August.
On September 1, MONSTA X released their new mini album "THE X" with title track "N the Front." Although I.M has been recovering from a back injury since July and could not participate fully in stage performances, he took part in promotions within his physical limits.
Born in 1996, I.M is the youngest member of MONSTA X and remains the only member yet to complete mandatory military service.
