Actress Lee Young Ae confessed that she was once fired from her role as a talk show host.
On the September 7th episode of JTBC's 'Please Take Care of My Refrigerator', Lee Young Ae and Kim Young Kwang appeared as guests.
MC Kim Sung Joo praised Kim Young Kwang, saying, "There isn't a genre he can't do, from romantic comedies to action. Recently on Netflix, I was about to watch our show but saw your new series 'Trigger' and started watching it. I'm a huge fan. How are you so good at acting?" Kim Young Kwang just smiled shyly. Kim Sung Joo expressed his surprise, "Is your MBTI an 'I' (introvert)? It's amazing you can perform like that." He then asked Lee Young Ae, who is also an introvert, "You both seem very shy, do you understand how he feels?" Lee Young Ae sympathized, "I understand completely. I can only talk this much now because I'm married and have children. I totally get it."
She then surprised everyone by admitting she was once fired from a program because of her shy personality. "It's half and half", she explained. "There were times I was let go, and times I said I couldn't do it. I was once the MC of a talk show. I did a pilot program under my own name, and it was very difficult." She added, "You two (MC hosts Ahn Jung Hwan and Kim Sung Joo) are amazing. When I'm acting in a role, I'm fine, but being myself as the host was hard. I realized it's not a job just anyone can do."
Kim Sung Joo reacted with surprise, "You were fired from a broadcasting station for being introverted? You're Lee Young Ae!" She responded, "Another station offered me a talk show in my name. But it wasn't something I could immerse myself in like a character. The professional MCs are truly incredible. I'm too reserved, so I just couldn't do it," showing her respect for their skills.
