Actor Kim Soo Hyun’s side has stated that there are diary entries from his military service which indicate he was not in a romantic relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron during that time.
On September 30th KST, attorney Ko Sang Rok of Phil Law Firm, who is representing Kim in his criminal case, explained: “I was recently appointed as Kim Soo Hyun’s legal representative and reviewed the materials. In his military diaries, Kim recorded his daily life and later included entries addressed to his girlfriend at the time. These diary-like letters were shown to her whenever he went on leave, and they exchanged them.”
Ko continued, “When comparing those letters to the writings directed toward the late Kim Sae Ron, there are clear differences. To his girlfriend, he wrote expressions like ‘I love you,’ whereas to Kim Sae Ron, he only noted impressions of the day, the weather, and military life.”
He emphasized, “These records were later placed alongside postcards exchanged during an actual relationship two years later, creating a distorted impression that they were romantic letters. At the time, they had no such relationship.”
Regarding the private correspondence with the girlfriend, Ko added: “Aside from the need to keep their dating discreet, the content was no different from ordinary conversations between a couple.”
Earlier, YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute (Gaseyeon) alleged that Kim Soo Hyun had been in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron since her underage years, sparking conflict between both sides. Kim’s agency, Gold Medalist, immediately denied the claims, but Gaseyeon continued to publish photos said to be related to Kim’s private life, presenting them as supposed evidence.
Kim Soo Hyun has since taken legal action. The Seoul Central District Court issued a provisional order requiring Gaseyeon to stop stalking activities against Kim. Gaseyeon appealed, but the appeal was dismissed.
Later, the late actress’s legal representative, attorney Bu Ji Seok of Buyu Law Firm, together with Gaseyeon, held a press conference releasing an audio recording in which the actress allegedly told an acquaintance she had dated Kim since her underage years.
However, Kim’s side claims the recording was manipulated using artificial intelligence. His agency Gold Medalist has also filed criminal complaints against Gaseyeon for violating the Anti-Stalking Act and the Information and Communications Network Act regarding defamation.
The recording has been submitted to the National Forensic Service (NFS) for examination, but results have not yet been released.
