Netflix has officially confirmed the production of its new series 'Road' (working title), unveiling a star-studded cast that includes Son Suk Ku, Eita Nagayama, Kim Shin Rok, Choi Sung Eun, and Jung Jae Young.
'Road' follows two detectives as they pursue a string of gruesome murders that transcend borders. The mystery begins in Tokyo, where the body of a victim is discovered grotesquely twisted, with a cryptic message written in Korean blood-red letters. The shocking crime rattles Japan, only to be mirrored soon after in Korea, where a similarly contorted corpse is found alongside a message in Japanese. As the pattern emerges, both nations realize they are facing an international serial killer, leading detectives from Korea and Japan to join forces in a tense cross-border investigation.
The series comes from director Han Jun Hee, best known for his acclaimed work on Netflix’s 'D.P.,' the film 'Coin Locker Girl,' and as creator of the hit series 'Weak Hero.' 'Road' is adapted from the well-received manga Blue Road, praised for its unique premise and gripping narrative. Screenwriter Jo Yoo Jin and Han Jun Hee will co-adapt the story, offering a fresh spin that amplifies its genre-driven appeal.
Speaking on the project, Han Jun Hee described it as “a transnational crime drama that fiercely follows two detectives giving their all to capture the culprit.” Known for his cinematic flair and powerful storytelling, Han is expected to deliver a visually striking and emotionally charged adaptation that expands on the original work while keeping viewers on edge.
With its confirmed production and the announcement of a dynamic cast, 'Road' is set to heighten anticipation among audiences worldwide. The series will be released exclusively on Netflix.
