Disney+ is unveiling a new Korean drama.
Shin Ye Eun, Rowoon, and Park Seo Ham set out to overturn a corrupt world. Supporting one another, they pushed their acting skills to the limit. Veteran actors Park Ji Hwan, Choi Gwi Hwa, and Kim Dong Won add further weight to the cast. The drama vividly portrays the raw and desperate lives of the lower class in the Joseon era.
On September 23, Disney+ drama 'The Murky Stream' (written by Chun Sung Il, directed by Choo Chang Min) held its production presentation at the Eliena Hotel in Gangnam, Seoul. Cast members Rowoon, Shin Ye Eun, Park Seo Ham, Park Ji Hwan, Choi Gwi Hwa, Kim Dong Won, and director Choo Chang Min were present.

'The Murky Stream' is a historical action series about those who dare to challenge the turbulent Joseon dynasty. Rogue fighter Jang Si Yul (Rowoon), merchant’s daughter Choi Eun (Shin Ye Eun), and official Jeong Cheon (Park Seo Ham) join forces.
Rowoon plays Jang Si Yul, a man hiding his past who becomes a vagabond. He is someone who cannot even be called by his real name and has no home to return to. Rowoon described the role as "a lone wolf kind of character."
For this drama, he undergoes a dramatic transformation, complete with messy hair, a beard, and skin covered in dirt, fully embodying the life of a wanderer from the lower classes.

Rowoon shared, "Becoming someone entirely different was so enjoyable. I felt like my range of characters had expanded, and it gave me hope that I could continue acting for a long time."
He also tackled challenging action sequences. He shared, "We filmed with real intensity, so there are a lot of raw, realistic scenes. It will be fun to watch how each character uses their own weapon of choice."
Shin Ye Eun plays Choi Eun, the daughter of the leader of Joseon’s top merchant guild. Like her parents, she dreams of becoming a merchant. Intelligent and righteous, she boldly stands against injustice.

She was cast during practice for her previous project, 'Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born'. She recalled, "I was rehearsing dance when I happened to greet the director, who was in the same space. He asked me to briefly take off my mask, and that led to my joining the cast."
To prepare for the role, she trained in merchant skills, focusing most on using the abacus. She explained, "I had learned it briefly in elementary school. I revived those memories and trained again."
She credited veteran actors with helping her refine her acting. She said, "Park Ji Hwan and Choi Gwi Hwa gave me a lot of guidance. They even reached out personally to share advice." She added, "The director always treated us kindly, which made the filming site a joyful place. Thanks to that, I was able to give my best."

The cast displayed strong teamwork. Rowoon, Shin Ye Eun, and Park Seo Ham showcased their chemistry as peers, joking around and constantly complimenting one another.
Shin Ye Eun said, "Rowoon and Park Seo Ham both had deep affection for acting. Thanks to that, we were able to film repeatedly until we got the best possible scene."
Rowoon described Shin Ye Eun as "a friend with lantern-like energy," praising her for keeping a bright smile on set despite the discomfort of historical costumes.
Park Seo Ham expressed gratitude and said, "Rowoon shared every acting tip he knew. He even monitored scenes he wasn’t in and gave sincere feedback."

The actors also boasted about the drama’s visual beauty. Rowoon remarked, "The night lighting on set was stunning. If you watch with the lights off, it will feel even more captivating."
Finally, Shin Ye Eun said, "This drama combines music, acting, and directing in perfect harmony. After watching the first two episodes myself, I was left with lingering emotions. Please stay with us until the very end."
Rowoon added, "This project became even more special because of the good people I worked with. I was ready to give up everything for it. I hope you enjoy watching."
Meanwhile, 'The Murky Stream' will premiere episodes 1–3 on September 26. Starting October 3, two new episodes will be released weekly.
