Actor Park Jung Min, who has been pursuing a new path as a publisher with his company booksmuze, has candidly acknowledged the struggles of running a small publishing house, including declining book sales.
In a video released on August 29 through the YouTube channel MagicPark-Dentist, the inside of booksmuze’s office was shown. During the visit, one of the staff members confessed, “Sales have dropped significantly these days,” offering a glimpse into the current atmosphere of the company.
Since founding booksmuze in 2025, Park has published a range of works including books and film scripts, stepping into the role of a bookstore owner. However, as one employee explained, “Sales spike when a new release comes out, but otherwise they are not like they used to be,” acknowledging the realistic difficulties of sustaining growth in the publishing industry.
The video also highlighted everyday challenges within the office. Employees shared concerns about their working environment, from having to purchase water and drinks with their personal cards to figuring out what to do with leftover merchandise after events. These details revealed the candid side of life at a small-scale publisher.
Despite these hurdles, Park continues to balance his acting career with his publishing endeavors.
Recently, booksmuze released the screenplay collection 'Pretty Crazy.' Expressing his determination, Park remarked, “I am doing my best until the publishing house reaches a stable footing.”
