Idol couple HyunA and Yong Junhyung have sparked controversy after sharing travel photos from Paris that showed smoking on the street.
On August 24, HyunA posted several photos on her Instagram from her trip to Europe with her husband Yong Junhyung. While the images reflected the happiness of the newlyweds, controversy arose when a photo showed Yong Junhyung publicly smoking in the middle of a Paris street.
This comes after Catherine Vautrin, the Minister of Labour, Health, Solidarity, and Families of France, announced that, beginning July 1, a new decree would ban smoking in areas frequently visited by children, including beaches, parks, outside schools, bus stops, and sports stadiums.
Violating this decree carries a fine of 135 euros (approximately 210,000 KRW or 158 USD).
Among outdoor spaces, however, terraces of cafes and bars are exempt from the ban, and e-cigarettes are not included in the restriction.

Although it has not been confirmed whether the street in HyunA's photos was a designated no-smoking zone, netizens shared mixed reactions: "I don’t understand why he should smoke in the middle of the street in an inconsiderate way and even leave it in a photo", "Since it’s an outdoor place, it seems illegal", "Whether illegal or not, it’s unpleasant to see", "If it’s not illegal, then what’s the problem?"
Meanwhile, HyunA and Yong Junhyung tied the knot in October 2024.
