On July 18, the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association (Chairman Song Pil ho) announced that Yoo Jae Suk, widely known as the “Nation’s MC,” donated 50 million KRW (about $36,000) to support people displaced and affected by recent torrential rains across South Korea.
Sharing his concern, Yoo said, “I was saddened to hear about those who suffered damage due to the heavy rainfall. I sincerely hope that the situation does not worsen.”
This contribution is the latest in a long record of giving. Yoo Jae Suk has repeatedly supported disaster relief through Hope Bridge in times of national crisis, including wildfires, floods, and earthquakes, offering help where it is most needed.
Shin Hoon, Secretary General of Hope Bridge, expressed gratitude: “We are deeply thankful to donor Yoo Jae Suk, who always shares his warm heart in difficult times. Hope Bridge will respond quickly to the affected regions so that assistance reaches those who urgently need it.”
Hope Bridge is the only legally designated organization in South Korea authorized to collect and distribute relief funds for natural disasters. Donations to support flood recovery can be made through the Hope Bridge website and through online fundraising platforms such as Naver Happybean and Kakao Together Value.
The organization operates disaster relief logistics centers in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, and Hamyang, South Gyeongsang Province, enabling rapid dispatch of emergency supplies nationwide. Established in 1961 by media outlets and civic groups, Hope Bridge leads disaster response across the country through emergency aid, fundraising and fund distribution, community recovery programs, and support for vulnerable populations.
