ONF's Hyojin receives hate messages from fans on Bubble, sparking debate over whether Bubble should filter messages sent to idols

A new debate has started among netizens, after ONF's Hyojin gained attention with his reaction to recent angry messages sent to him on Bubble.

As a paid fan messaging service, Bubble offers a way for idols and fans to connect. Idols post special messages and photos for fans to see each week, and fans can send messages for idols to see as well. However, recent events have sparked debate over whether there should be a filter on messages sent to idols, in order to prevent them from seeing hate messages.

ONF's Hyojin unintentionally started the debate, as his reaction to angry messages on his Bubble went viral.

Fan message to Hyojin: "Shouldn't you at least apologize for not reaching out in such a long time? This is honestly ridiculous"

Hyojin: "Sorry..

It's just

I really feel sorry for being away for such a long time

I'm trying to be okay

My heart feels like it's going to explode every time I read the comments

But I'm also not ignoring the kind messages, really."

Netizens pointed out that aside from Hyojin, many other idols also frequently receive hate messages on Bubble, with no filters in place to prevent them from having to see these messages. Hyojin's response to the angry messages he had been receiving has now started a conversation about Bubble's current lack of filters to protect artists.

"I really hate the concept of paid communication, it ends up just being bullying"

"It's unbelievable that there are no filters or protections in place"

"These people think they can say whatever they want just because they paid 5,000 won. Is this a new type of bullying or something? It sure isn't 'communication' ㅋㅋㅋㅋ"

"There should at least be a way to see other fan messages, and a report button as well"

"It seems like some people use Bubble as an excuse to treat idols like an emotional trashcan"

"I can tell how much that message must have hurt Hyojin. And just looking at that one message, imagine how many worse and more hateful messages he's received"

"I don't know, I think Bubble should just disappear altogether. It's a den of wolves"

"Let's just get rid of paid communication. At this point, I'm worried about idols' mental health if they have to keep seeing these kinds of messages"

"People even send out protest trucks to complain when an idol isn't active enough on Bubble. There are a lot of lunatics out there. And people who use Bubble as an opportunity to bully others without having to leave their house"

"I feel bad for Hyojin, he probably needs mental health care"

"I'm not even a fan of ONF, but my heart just sank reading these messages. It must be so difficult for Hyojin, he even said he's so stressed out it feels like his heart will explode"

"Bubble should use AI to filter messages. Three warnings if someone tries to send a hateful message, and if they keep trying they get banned"

"Let's just get rid of paid communication altogether. Paying to talk to celebrities? I think that's a really terrible idea in the first place"

"I hope more artists will realize that Bubble is not mandatory and that they can take a break whenever they feel tired. I hope that fans will also realize this"

"Paid communication is the root of all evil. There are too many people who think they can say horrible things to others just because they paid money to do it"
