Actress Nana, formerly of After School, recently spoke candidly about her challenges while promoting as part of the sub-unit Orange Caramel.
On July 8, Nana appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel TEO. During the interview, she described herself as someone who values honesty and openness.
"I'm a very straightforward person," she said. "Because I want to keep living authentically, I feel a sense of responsibility to act properly."
She continued by saying that people with influence should be able to acknowledge when something is right or wrong, and admit their mistakes when necessary. She believes it is better to be honest than to pretend everything is fine. However, she admitted that her management often worries about her outspoken nature. "The company tells me to hold back and be more cautious," she said with a shy smile.
Host Jang Do Yeon asked if there were times earlier in her career when she had no choice but to follow the company’s decisions. Nana replied, "That’s why I ended up doing Orange Caramel."
"Orange Caramel wasn't my style. After School fit me much better," she explained. "I didn’t even like the name Orange Caramel, so I had a lot of complaints back then."
Despite her initial resistance, she eventually found joy in the experience. "Seeing people have fun copying us made me enjoy it too. During "Catallena," when I shouted 'Ha!' and it became a trend, that was the moment I was really having fun."
Nana made her debut with After School in 2009. She is currently active as an actress with a growing list of successful projects.
