Singer and television personality (Mijoo) Lee Mi Joo has swiftly denied rumors suggesting she is in a romantic relationship with professional baseball player Lee Jin Young of the Hanwha Eagles.
On July 25, a representative from Lee Mi Joo’s agency, Antenna, told Xportsnews, “The dating rumors between Lee Mi Joo and Lee Jin Young are completely unfounded. They have never even met.”
The speculation spread rapidly across online communities and social media after a recent video upload on Lee Mi Joo’s YouTube channel, in which she gave a first-ever tour of her home. Observant viewers pointed out similarities between her living room including curtains, a round table, and lighting fixtures and the background seen in a photo posted on Lee Jin Young’s personal social media account, sparking dating rumors.
Earlier, Lee Jin Young had uploaded a post thanking fans for their birthday wishes, accompanied by a photo. Internet users noted that the interior setting in the photo resembled elements seen in Lee Mi Joo’s home tour video, fueling suspicions of a romantic connection.
Adding to the speculation was the fact that Lee Mi Joo has long been known as a dedicated fan of the Hanwha Eagles. In a 2018 appearance on JTBC’s 'Knowing Bros,' she shared, “I got into baseball after throwing the ceremonial first pitch for a Hanwha game. As I grew more interested in the sport, I became a Hanwha Eagles fan.” More recently, she was seen checking a Hanwha game in her YouTube content.
This is not the first time Lee Mi Joo has been at the center of relationship news. In April last year, she confirmed she was dating soccer player Song Bumkeun, but the couple reportedly broke up earlier this year after nine months of public dating.
