According to media outlet reports on July 25 KST, actor Choi Woo Sik has been offered the male lead role in the new webtoon-based drama series 'Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid'. The actor is said to be reviewing the script positively.
Awarded a presidential award at the 'Korea Contents Awards' in 2021, 'Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid' is a webtoon series created by Na Yoon Hee. Based off the classic tale of 'The Little Mermaid', the story takes place in Gyeongseong during the Japanese colonial period and follows the love story between a freedom fighter, Kang Eui Hyun, and a young woman with a secret, Soo Ah.
Meanwhile, Choi Woo Sik most recently starred in the Netflix original film 'Melo Movie' and is also set to greet viewers in the fall through the SBS romantic comedy series 'Would You Marry Me'.
