Top-tier casting has been confirmed for TV Chosun’s highly anticipated weekend miniseries 'No Next Life' (working title), as actresses Kim Hee Sun, Han Hye Jin, and Jin Seo Yeon officially join the production as the three leads.
Slated to premiere in November 2025, 'No Next Life' is directed by Seong Do Joon and written by Shin Yi Won. The series tells a comical yet heartfelt story of growth. It follows three 41-year-old friends who are worn down by the repetitive cycle of daily life, the challenges of parenting, and the fatigue of office work. Faced with the uncertainty of midlife, often described as a second adolescence, the three women come together to give life another try and grow through their struggles.
The series is a collaboration between director Seong Do Joon, known for his warm and realistic storytelling in 'Uncle,' and writer Shin Yi Won, who received praise for her emotional and well-structured script in 'Green Mothers’ Club.' Together, they aim to present a new milestone in the "humanistic womance drama" genre. With streaming confirmed on Netflix, the drama is expected to resonate with viewers by portraying the emotional journey of women facing midlife challenges.
Kim Hee Sun will play Jo Na Jung, a former top-earning show host who is now a stay-at-home mother of two. Her character sets out on a bold comeback to reclaim her career and self-worth. Kim, known for her wide acting range in 'Tomorrow,' 'Alice,' and 'Remarriage & Desires,' will deliver a powerful performance portraying the realistic emotional struggles of a woman caught between ideals and reality.
Han Hye Jin will take on the role of Gu Joo Young, a planning director at Korea’s most prestigious art center. Outwardly successful and composed, she quietly battles the pain of a sexless marriage and the emotional toll of trying to conceive. Han has been praised for her heartfelt performances in dramas such as 'Divorce Attorney Shin,' 'Mothers,' and 'One Warm Word,' and she is expected to show delicate emotional depth in this new role.
Jin Seo Yeon plays Lee Il Ri, a stylish and ambitious deputy editor at a fashion magazine. Once admired for her runway-worthy fashion sense during college, she has built a successful career as a fashion editor. However, she still holds on to romantic dreams of marriage. Jin has impressed audiences with her strong presence in projects like 'Believer,' 'One the Woman,' and 'Battle for Happiness.' Viewers are eager to see what new charm she will bring to the screen.
The production team shared that the casting of Kim Hee Sun, Han Hye Jin, and Jin Seo Yeon marks a major moment for the drama. They expressed confidence that the story of these three friends, who confront the growing pains of adulthood, will deeply resonate with women in their 20s through 50s and provide both comfort and inspiration.
'No Next Life' will premiere on TV Chosun in November and will also be available for streaming on Netflix.
