Former After School member Kahi recently shared the story of her challenging second childbirth during an appearance on the June 11 episode of the YouTube channel I Know Hyungsoo.
In a candid conversation with singer K.Will, Kahi revealed that she discovered her second pregnancy while vacationing in Bali. She explained that she had felt unwell for about a month and told her husband that something seemed off.
Although she took two pregnancy tests, both were negative. The couple had scheduled their trip around surfing, but on the first day in Bali, her condition felt unusual again. After taking another test, she found out she was pregnant. She said she ended up spending the trip resting and focusing on prenatal care.
Kahi shared that while her first child was born through natural delivery, her second required a cesarean section. During filming for 'The Return of Superman,' she experienced heavy bleeding while asleep. Everything had been scheduled according to her due date, but in the middle of the night she began hemorrhaging.
Shocked and panicked, she wrapped herself in a shower towel and tried to contact the filming crew. She noted that it was difficult to reach anyone at that hour. Despite the situation, she and her husband headed to the hospital and managed to alert the production team, who quickly arrived and set up filming there.
She said she had hoped for another natural birth and tried to endure, but was ultimately told that a C-section was necessary. She described it as a physically and emotionally difficult experience.
Following the birth, Kahi managed to regain her pre-pregnancy figure, including her abdominal muscles. She mentioned breastfeeding for about 100 days and then returning to her workout routine.
However, when attempting sit-ups, she noticed she had no strength in her core. She compared the sensation to a deflated balloon and said it was incredibly frustrating. Determined to recover, she began working out for three hours a day. She also cut carbohydrates from her diet for three months, which helped her body start to return to its previous condition.
Looking back on her postpartum recovery, Kahi reflected that she was more relaxed with her second child. She said she had been overly strict with herself after her first pregnancy and likely wanted a different approach the second time around.
