Did you know that early storyboards for Netflix's 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' contained scenes from the 'Idol Star Athletics Championship'?
According to director Maggie Kang, the 'Idol Star Athletics Championship' - certainly considered an iconic event in the world of K-Pop - was originally the setting for the conversation between the film characters Rumi and Jinu about Rumi's demon marks. The director told Forbes, "When we cut that scene in, all the executives were like, 'What is this? Why are they suddenly doing the Olympics and running hurdles and doing archery?' That eventually became a fan signing event. But, for a very long time, they had Rumi and Jinu doing archery, as they were having that conversation."
Based on the director's remarks, it seems that the 'Idol Star Athletics Championship' was scrapped from the story due to its unfamiliarity with general audiences.
But what would 'ISAC' have looked like, portrayed in the world of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters'? Illustrator Henry Wong shared a glimpse via Instagram:

K-netizens reacted with comments like,
"I get why the Sony Pictures execs were thrown off kekekekeke. They dramatized it a bit too much kekekeke."
"They should have put the scene where Rumi shoots a perfect 10 in archery and breaks the camera lens!! Kekekeke."
"'ISAC' would have been fun to see kekekekeke."
"They made it a little too much like the real Olympics lol."
"I agree that 'ISAC' is too difficult for normies to understand kekekekeke."
"Are they sure that's 'ISAC' and not the 'Hunger Games' kekekekeke."
"So they were supposed to talk secretively during the 'ISAC' and not the fan sign? That would have been crazy kekekekeke."
"Why are there metal bars between Rumi and Jinu kekekekekeke."
"Okay let's put the 'ISAC' scene back in during season 2!!"
"Now I need to see Huntrix and Saja Boys sitting on the ground in their 'ISAC' uniforms or doing the relay race kekekekeke."
