BTS has added even more Platinum records to their name in the United States, breaking their record for the most RIAA Platinum certifications by a K-pop artist.
On June 24, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) updated its official Gold & Platinum list, which recognizes singles and albums based on certified sales and streams in the U.S.
The RIAA awards Gold certification for 500,000 units sold, Platinum for 1 million, Multi-Platinum for 2 million, and Diamond for 10 million.
BTS earned new Platinum certifications for four singles: “Run,” “Blood Sweat & Tears,” “DNA,” and “Fake Love,” each surpassing 1 million units in combined sales and streams in the U.S.
With these additions, BTS now holds a total of 13 Platinum records, extending their record for the most RIAA Platinum certifications by any K-pop act.
The group had previously earned Platinum certifications for hits like “MIC Drop,” “Boy With Luv,” “IDOL,” and “Butter,” as well as albums including 'Love Yourself: Answer,' 'Map of the Soul: 7,' and 'BE.'
In 2023, BTS became the first K-pop group to achieve 5× Platinum status (over 5 million units) with their global hit Dynamite.
The group also picked up several new Gold certifications, with “Save ME,” “Spring Day,” “ON,” “Black Swan,” and “Permission to Dance” each crossing the 500,000-unit mark.
