The Korean occult political thriller 'The Pact', directed by Kim Nam Gyoon, has achieved a surprise box office success by drawing over 600,000 viewers within just 15 days of its release.
Produced with a modest budget of approximately $1.1 million, 'The Pact' has held strong against big-budget blockbusters. The film's continued rise in attendance has been fueled entirely by word-of-mouth recommendations and repeat viewings, with no reliance on large-scale marketing or major distribution.
To thank audiences for their support, lead cast members Kim Gyu Ri, Ahn Nae Sang, Joo Sung Hwan, and Myung Gye Nam made special appearances in theaters in Cheonan, Daejeon, Jeonju, and Gwangju on June 14 and 15. The screenings were filled with cheers and applause as fans showed enthusiastic support for the actors.
The cast expressed their gratitude by saying, "We never expected the theaters outside Seoul to be this packed. We're truly grateful," and "Seeing the eyes of each and every one of you makes us feel that making this film was the right decision."

'The Pact', produced by Open Sympathy TV, is a political occult thriller inspired by South Korean President Yoon Seok Yeol and his wife Kim Keon Hee. The film was released on June 2, 2025, just one day before the 21st presidential election. The story follows Yoon Ji Hee (Kim Gyu Ri), a woman who seeks power through mystical forces, and a journalist determined to uncover the disturbing truth behind her rise. Notably, the film's Korean title, 'ShinMyeong', is a reversed form of 'Myeong Shin', which was reportedly Kim Keon Hee’s name before she changed it.
