tvN’s variety show 'Problematic Men' is returning after five years.

The newly rebooted version, titled 'Problematic Men Reboot: Math Edition,' has confirmed its premiere for July 23, raising anticipation.

Originally airing in 2015, Problematic Men gained steady popularity for its unique problem-solving format and intellectual gameplay, breaking away from the traditional variety show format. This reboot will center on the theme of "restoring math confidence" and features a brand-new cast.

Original member Jun Hyun Moo returns for this season and will team up with star math instructor Jung Seung Je.

Previously known for his humorous portrayal as a "math dropout" character, Jun Hyun Moo is expected to transform into a "growth character," working alongside Jung Seung Je to improve his math skills.

The cast lineup is also generating buzz.

TV personality Bae Sung Jae joins as the "brain caster," while singer John Park is introduced as someone who achieved a perfect score on the math section of the U.S. SAT. Also joining are all-rounder idol Suho and math prodigy Kim Gyu Min, who entered Seoul Science High School early and placed first in the Korean Math Olympiad, forming an impressive lineup of “problematic students.”

A teaser video released on the 27th featured a math question personally created by Jung Seung Je. Uniquely, the air date of the show itself was presented as a math problem, catching viewers’ eyes.

Jung Seung Je teased viewers by saying, “If you think mathematically, it’s easy to solve,” piquing curiosity. In another clip, while reviewing the cast, he repeatedly said, “I’m really looking forward to this.

'Problematic Men,' which aired from 2015 to 2020, was widely loved for its original concept that set it apart from conventional entertainment shows.

At a time when most variety formats focused on lighthearted skits or reality-based formats, 'Problematic Men' distinguished itself by stimulating the brain through problems that required critical and logical thinking.

Viewers found themselves immersed as they solved problems alongside the cast and followed their thought processes. This intellectual engagement, coupled with the thrill of problem-solving, helped the show carve out a unique niche in the variety landscape.

The cast’s character dynamics also played a key role in the show’s popularity. With a diverse lineup of humanities and science majors, math whizzes, and math-phobes, each member brought different strengths and complemented each other. Their occasional blunders and human moments added charm and relatability.
