Son Dam Bi and her husband Lee Gyu Hyuk will be appearing on family reality show ‘Our Baby Has Been Born’, where they will reveal the emotional journey of their child’s birth.
On May 6, the show’s production team announced their participation, stating, “The couple, who began their pregnancy journey through IVF, will share their heartfelt experience with viewers.”
Along with the announcement, a Q&A with Son Dam Bi was released.
1. What motivated you to join the show?
“Giving birth alone is overwhelming, but I really wanted to capture and keep the process as a beautiful memory. With declining birthrates being a social issue today, I thought sharing our experience would be meaningful. I believe this will be something precious our child can watch when they grow up.”
2. What were you most concerned about during the pregnancy?
“I was fortunate to have a relatively smooth pregnancy without severe morning sickness or cravings. However, I was diagnosed with placenta previa, which caused concern. Thankfully, with the support of the medical team, the cesarean section went well and I recovered quickly.”
3. How did you feel when you found out you were pregnant?
“It was our second round of IVF after the first attempt failed. We were anxious, thinking it might turn into a long journey. But miraculously, we got good news quickly the second time. My husband and I cried tears of joy together. Since our baby was conceived through IVF, we felt even more grateful and deeply moved.”
4. How did you feel when you first met your baby?
“I recovered quickly from general anesthesia and was able to visit the baby the next day. When I first saw the baby through the glass, I cried. The emotions were overwhelming — I couldn’t believe such a tiny, precious being came from me. Haei was born weighing 2.68 kg but seemed even smaller in person. I was nervous to hold her at first. When I did during our first breastfeeding session, I was afraid she might break. Despite my fear, holding this little life brought me indescribable happiness.”
5. What should viewers look out for in the show?
“I married and had a baby later in life, and through IVF. I want to give hope to those in similar situations — that it's still possible to have a healthy baby. I stayed healthy throughout the pregnancy and remained positive right up to the birth. I hope viewers see that in the show. With a bright mindset, you can bring new life into the world — that’s the message I want to share.”
