Launching globally on June 20, 'KPop Demon Hunters' is far more than just another animated series. It’s a hybrid action-musical animation that follows the double life of a K-pop girl group performing on stage as the idol group Huntress, while secretly battling demons behind the scenes.
The project is drawing major attention with its star-studded creative team: from the crew behind 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,' to Korean-American director Maggie Kang, 'Wish Dragon's Chris Appelhans, and even 'Shrek' producer Aron Warner. With this lineup, the hype is real. Some are even calling this Netflix’s boldest statement yet in promoting “K-culturalization” of global content.
Adding to the excitement, actor Ahn Hyo Seop uses his experience living in Canada to voice the English-speaking villain, Jin Woo, the leader of a demon boy group. Meanwhile, TWICE members Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung are contributing to the OST, making it a star-packed showcase of Korean talent.

In the film, the girl group Huntress instantly evokes aespa, known for their futuristic and edgy concept dubbed “metallic taste,” and their warrior-like battle against the villain Black Mamba in early debut lore.

On the flip side, the demon boy group Lion Boys flaunts a versatile range of styles, from traditional hanbok to refreshing casual looks. This brings to mind Stray Kids, who’ve modernized hanbok for the stage, and MONSTA X, known for their powerful, athletic energy that wins hearts around the world.
