Actor Lee Do Hyun is finally being discharged from the military, bringing an end to both his service and his girlfriend Lim Ji Yeon’s long wait.
On May 13 KST, the 30-year-old actor will complete his approximately 21 months of military duty in the Air Force military band, returning to civilian life amid a warm welcome from fans.
Although he enlisted in August 2023, Lee maintained a steady presence through pre-filmed projects. At the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards, where he won Best New Actor for the film 'Exhuma', he drew attention by appearing in uniform and giving a heartfelt shoutout: “Ji Yeon, thank you.” The brief yet sincere message was seen as a public display of affection for his girlfriend.
The two have been publicly dating since before his enlistment, and Lee successfully balanced both his romance and career during his service, making his mark with projects like 'Exhuma' and Netflix’s 'Sweet Home'.
Now discharged, Lee is expected to resume his acting career in full. He is currently considering a lead role in the upcoming drama by the Hong Sisters, with Go Min Si reportedly cast as his co-star — raising fans’ anticipation.
Born in 1995, Lee Do Hyun made his debut in the 2017 drama 'Prison Playbook' and went on to receive acclaim through hit series such as Sweet Home (2020), 'Youth of May' (2021), and 'The Glory' (2022).
As he returns to fans post-discharge, attention is also focused on his reunion with Lim Ji Yeon, who had been patiently waiting through his service.
